HIDDEN
HOLLOW - A small secluded resort ...for the PERFECT GETAWAY
Hidden Hollow is in the southern Appalachians and is a part of McLemore Cove,
which is included on the National Historic Register. It is 135 mostly wooded
acres of seclusion at the foot of, and on the side of, Lookout Mountain, 20
miles from downtown Chattanooga. The four-acre lake is spring fed with a small creek bordering the property. Special on-site interests (besides
the many tourist attractions in the nearby areas) are the Cherokee Indian heritage,
the Civil War happenings, remnants of old moonshine stills, and
varied outdoor games.
We like to think of our place as a "getaway," a retreat from the tensions,
noises, and rush of today's lifestyles. We encourage our guests to take advantage
of Hidden Hollow's peace and quiet and relive the days when families and friends
sat on the porches and visited, played horseshoes, croquet, etc. on the lawns,
paddled the canoes or paddleboats around the lake or fished from its banks.
We create a special atmosphere here for guests who, upon returning from tourist-oriented
day trips, are ready for relaxing with a moonlight walk, a visit around a cheerful
fireplace, or a sing-along and marshmallow roast around a country campfire.
Although the cabins are built in a rustic style (some log, some frame), they
do provide comfort. A wonderful place to make memories with your family and
friends as you reflect on cherished traditions and creates new ones here in
this peaceful spot.
Most cabins have picnic shelters and campfire rings.
The cabins are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed.
Ours is a small resort, and reservation and cancellation policies are very important. Generally, a minimum of two nights stay is required, however three nights are needed for Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, etc. weekends. A deposit of one-half your charge is required when reservation is made except for one-night stays which require a payment in full. One-night stay's deposit is not refundable. Other refunds will be less a $25 service charge if notice of cancellation or change of dates is received less than 14 days in advance. For holiday cancellations more than 14 days in advance the service fee is $50. If you rent multiple accommodations (more than 1 cabin) there is NO refund unless you inform us six weeks before arrival date, in which event there is only a 50% refund. There is NO refund of deposit within the last 14 days even if weather related.
Please reserve only the time you intend to be at Hidden Hollow. You will be charged for the entire period reserved, regardless of late arrival or early departure. Balance of payment is due on arrival. Failure to honor commitment and arrive as scheduled will result in a charge for full balance owed. There is a $25 fee for returned checks. Check-in time is 3:00PM and check-out time is 11:00AM. Please notify us if you will be arriving after 6:00PM. We accept Visa and Mastercard.
While very informal, comfortable sport clothes are the order of the day here, we do ask that men not go bare-chested on the grounds unless sunbathing on the lake. We ask that you be considerate of other guests and keep radios, etc. at a level for your own enjoyment. While we sometimes have group parties going on in our Music Hall, we try not to let them last too late at night. If you expect non-registered persons to visit you, please remember that when a cabin is rented to a certain number of people that is the number that is expected. If you have guests or friends for more than 15-20 minutes, you will need to pay $8 a day each one.
Please remember, there are hazards associated with such country places and you are responsible for your own welfare and that of any children who accompany you. The registration form you sign when checking in includes a "Release of Responsibility" statement.
Please remember that you are visiting the country, and you must be aware that, as in most any "rural" place, there may be chiggers, no-see-ums, crawling things, etc. Be sure you take the proper precautions.
